March, How to build a raised garden bed

Building a raised garden bed can be a fun and rewarding project. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to do it:

  1. Prepare the Soil: First, dig over the soil to level the surface and clear out weeds and debris1.

  2. Stake out the Corners: You can do this with wooden posts; these should be around 2x2 inches1.

  3. Position the Boards: Arrange your boards in the desired layout for your raised bed1.

  4. Fill the Raised Beds with Soil: Once your frame is set up, you can fill it with a mix of soil and compost1.

  5. Keep Raised Beds Low-Maintenance: Consider adding a layer of mulch on top to help retain moisture and suppress weeds1.

Remember, the size and design of your raised bed can vary based on your specific needs and available space. You can choose to edge your raised beds using any materials you have at hand—wood, stones, bricks, cement blocks2. For more detailed instructions, you can refer to guides from The Old Farmer’s Almanac or Lowe’s.

Happy gardening!
